1. Overview

ClayCue is a clay-shooting training log for iOS, Android and the web. “ClayCue,” “we,” “us” and “our” in this policy refer to the ClayCue app and service.

You can use the core training log without creating an account. In that mode, your training records stay on your device unless you choose to export or share them. If you create an account, ClayCue can back up and synchronise supported records between your devices.

2. Information we handle

Training information you enter

This may include scores, rounds, disciplines, dates, shooting grounds, stands, target presentations, hits and misses, miss reasons, techniques, equipment, cartridges, conditions, notes, custom options, saved courses and training experiments.

Account and authentication information

If you create an account, we process your email address, optional display name, sign-in method and the identifier supplied by Google or Apple. For email accounts, we store a cryptographic password hash, not your password. We also process session and password-reset records needed to secure your account. For Sign in with Apple, we may retain an Apple authorisation token so we can revoke access when you delete your account.

Location and place-search information

If you grant foreground location permission, ClayCue may use a recent device location to suggest a nearby shooting ground, find grounds you search for and prefill broad weather conditions. If you save a round with location enabled, the app may keep an approximate, averaged position for that ground. See “Location” below.

Technical information

Our hosting providers may process standard network and request information—such as IP address, request time, route, response status, browser or device information, and error details—to operate, protect and troubleshoot the service. The ClayCue website does not set advertising cookies or include third-party analytics trackers.

3. How we use information

We use information only to:

• provide the training log, scoring, insights, exports and experiments you request;
• recognise or search for shooting grounds and suggest current shooting conditions;
• create and secure your account, authenticate sign-ins and reset passwords;
• back up and synchronise your records when you sign in;
• maintain, protect, debug and improve the reliability of ClayCue; and
• comply with applicable law and enforce our rights.

Where applicable, we rely on performing our service agreement, your consent (including device permissions), our legitimate interest in securing and improving the service, and compliance with legal obligations.

4. Location

ClayCue asks for foreground location only when you use a location-related feature. Location is optional: you can deny permission and enter or search for a ground manually. We do not request background location access and do not continuously track your location.

When enabled, coordinates may be:

• used on your device to match a previously saved nearby ground;
• sent with a search query through our server to Google Places to bias results near you;
• sent directly to Open-Meteo to request current cloud-cover and wind information; and
• stored as an approximate averaged ground position and included in account sync.

You can withdraw location permission at any time in your device settings. ClayCue will continue to work without it.

5. Service providers

We do not sell or rent your information. We disclose limited information to providers only as needed for the functions described here:

• Replit provides application hosting, infrastructure and production database services.
• Google provides optional Google sign-in and Google Places search.
• Apple provides optional Sign in with Apple.
• Open-Meteo provides optional weather lookups based on coordinates.
• Resend processes email addresses and message contents when we send password-reset email.

These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. We require providers acting on our behalf to protect personal information consistently with this policy and applicable law. We may also disclose information when legally required, to protect people or the service, or as part of a business reorganisation with appropriate safeguards.

6. Retention and deletion

Local training records remain on your device until you delete them, erase the app’s local data, or uninstall the app in a way that removes app storage. Records synchronised to ClayCue are kept while your account remains active so we can provide backup and sync.

Account sessions expire after 90 days without use. One-time sign-in codes expire after 60 seconds and password-reset codes after 15 minutes. Expired operational records are removed or made inaccessible as part of normal service maintenance.

When you delete your account, ClayCue deletes the active account record, sessions and synchronised training data associated with it. You can separately choose whether to keep or erase the copy on your device. Limited records may be retained only where reasonably necessary for security, dispute resolution or legal compliance, and protected for as long as that purpose requires.

7. Your choices and rights

• Use without an account: keep your core training log local to your device.
• Location: decline or revoke permission in system settings and enter grounds manually.
• Export: export your training records from the app.
• Account deletion: delete your account from Account settings or request help through our deletion page.
• Access or correction: review account information in the app or contact us.

Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, withdraw consent, and complain to a data-protection authority. Contact us to exercise a right. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. Native session credentials are stored using the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore, passwords are hashed, server session tokens are hashed at rest, and network traffic uses HTTPS in production. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

9. International processing

ClayCue and its providers may process information in countries other than yours. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

10. Children

ClayCue is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as ClayCue changes. We will post the revised policy here, change the “last updated” date, and provide additional notice when required by law.
